Had this Qashqai come in the other week with a rubbing noise. Noticed the NSF wheel was sat well into the arch. After an inspection, I found that the lower ball joint had excessive play, the track rod end had excessive play. Even more worrying the lower arm and inner tie rod was bent well out of shape due to an impact with a pothole!! Surrounding components were inspected and the damaged ones were replaced. This Toyota Hilux came in feeling sluggish and using more diesel than before. A Diagnosis session found that injector number 4 was leaking and the cause of these faults. Rebooked in with me for the injector replacement and carried out the job, along with all new cam cover gaskets / seals. Coded the injector in and then carried out a pilot quantity learning procedure. Here it is! The biggest job I've undertaken so far as Ellis Motorworks. This Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce came to me as a non runner, previously diagnosed by another garage as head gasket failure. When you manage to drain litres of coolant out of the sump along with the cylinders being full to the brim with coolant you know that it's a drastic head gasket failure! The plan of attack the customer wanted was a replacement engine and gearbox, so that's exactly what I did! The 8 speed ZF Gearbox out first, followed by the engine which is a 2 litre turbo making 280hp! The swap went great and then carried out service items to be replaced along with all fluids etc! Allowed myself time to test the vehicle due to the engine being a low mileage second hand unit with guarantee . Carried out over 110 miles of testing , various short and long journeys mixed with stop start traffic and long dual carriageway cruises. Ironed out any teething problems along the way and was happy with the outcome! A couple of bits noted down for the customer which would have been there prior to the work I carried out and all agreed that it should return to the customer to begin using again! Apparently it now drives a lot better than it ever did before and is very happy with the outcome!! Very proud of how this job went due to undertaking this as my shops first major job and I couldn't be happier with the result! 5⭐ reviews on Google ! I had this 1928 Austin 12 Heavy in for a pre summer inspection and light maintenance! I have personally been looking after this customer's car for the past 3 years and It was an absolute pleasure to have it in my own workshop! The maintenance consisted of Greasing/Lubricating all points on the car, giving a lights check, spark plugs and points check/cleaned , fluids checked and topped up where needed. Tyre pressure and take a look at a cold start issue which was resolved! Took the car for a test drive and then gave it a wipe over before hand so it was clean for the customer on collection! I love the simple complexity of these cars compared to modern cars, almost everything on these is mechanical and it makes it such a joy to work on, let all be being able to see all of the engineering works carried out back in those times. Having done my apprenticeship on vintage and classics, it's definitely where my heart is. Hopefully this shows this variety of cars and jobs that I'd happily undertake. 5⭐ reviews on Google ! A little about Ellis Motorworks.

Ellis Motorworks, based in Mayfield, East Sussex, is a newly opened, independent and fully insured car workshop run by myself, Connor. ​

We offer a full range of services we take great pride in. This includes everything from simple diagnostic checks to comprehensive pre- and post-track day inspections and repairs. See more about our services here.

I've worked on a wide range of vehicles, from classic and vintage cars such as the Ford Model T, 1916 Pierce Arrow Lorry and an Austin 12. I’ve also supported several race meetings as part of a pit crew, maintaining and prepping a Rallycross Subaru Impreza. Alongside this, i’m currently building my own track-spec Classic Mini (read more here).
